New York City-based cellist Paul Wolfram performs with Little Opera Theatre of New York, Mimesis Ensemble, operamission, and the Barrow Street Piano Quartet. Frequent collaborations include projects with composer and lyricist Andrew Gerle, Mikhael Tara Garver and The New Ensemble, and singer/songwriter Rachel Zylstra, including her 2012 album Strings. Prior to moving to New York, Paul performed with professional orchestras across the Midwest including the Quad City, Green Bay, and Madison Symphonies. In addition to performing, Paul is on faculty at the Bronx House School for the Performing Arts and teaches a private studio in New York City. Previously, he taught as a Teaching Artist for the Brooklyn Philharmonic and the Madison Symphony Orchestra. Paul has presented clinics and masterclasses in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Paul earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Lawrence University, graduating magna cum laude, and his Master of Music from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he was cellist of the Graduate Fellowship Quartet. His primary teachers were Uri Vardi, Janet Anthony, and Sarah West. Paul attended the ARIA, Bowdoin, and Heifetz summer festivals; and studied pedagogy at the Madison Summer Cello Institute and the Upper Midwest String and Chamber Music Workshop. Paul plays a cello made by Phillip Injeian of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
